Wedding Shuttle Pick-up/Drop-off

We will organize shuttles from Verona to the venue. If you need a ride, please meet at the Gran Guardia Steps, across from Verona Piazza Bra, at 2:45 p.m. These shuttles will also bring guests back to Gran Guardia after the reception. We have arranged for two return times, the first around 10:45 p.m., and the second at 1:00 a.m.

Our Wedding

It was late December of 2021, at a hostel in Miami Beach—Two strangers from opposite sides of the world happened to be assigned the same bunk. Yari was visiting the U.S. for the first time from Italy. Allyson was escaping a cold Chicago winter (despite her girlfriends bailing on the trip). It was the end of Allyson's first year as a lawyer at Smith LaCien, and for the first few days, she could be found working at all hours of the night in the hostel lobby. Meanwhile, Yari and their roommate, Mauricio, assumed Allyson was out partying every night, and made it their mission to befriend her to get invited...sorry guys!Given the three-way language barrier, their conversations were held together by charades, patience and Google Translate, but somehow they became fast friends...and for Yari and Allyson, something more by New Years Eve, when they shared their first kiss. At the end of their vacation, their return plans changed when they all discovered they had COVID--which meant Yari and Mauricio could not get home to Italy and Argentina. Allyson proposed the “Tres Boludos” quarantine all together at her apartment in Chicago. They happily accepted, and spent another couple weeks together making focaccia, playing games, and drinking Aperol Spritzes (to kill the COVID, of course). Then, somewhere between the COVID tests and game nights, Allyson realized she really didn’t want Yari to leave--and Yari realized he really wanted to stay.With his clear COVID test, before flying home, Yari asked Allyson be his girlfriend and promised he’d return and go to school in Chicago. Two months later, he did just that—having sold his car, quit his job, and moved his life across the ocean, for school...and they’ve been together ever since 💕

Hotel Recommendations 

Valerio Catullo Airport (VRN) is in Verona and the closest option, but it is a smaller airport. There are likely more direct flights to Milan (MXP), so check both! Call your hotel concierge to confirm if they have a shuttle or transportation partner for their guests. Our wedding planner can help you organize transportation as well if you click and fill out <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSej1IRT5UVGno4nppHlgpBZsHE6RMUAsy1r20ncVdQYPeOiSA/viewform?usp=header" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">this Google Form!</a> Renting a car is an option, but I will say, driving in Italy is not for the faint of heart...If you prefer taxis, Radio Taxi Verona can be contacted by texting +39 340-321-0021 or on WhatsApp message to +39 045 532666 (If you do not have an international phone plan, the WhatsApp phone application can be used to message or call others anywhere you have WiFi). This option will be expensive from MXP, but not too bad from VRN. If you are not renting a car or calling a taxi, you will likely be taking a bus or a train to Verona Porta Nuova. If you get a flight to VRN, take the 199 bus from the airport to Verona Porta Nuova. If you land in Milan (MXP), take the Trenord&nbsp;R28 from the airport to Milano Centrale, and then take a train to Verona Porta Nuova. Search in advance to see which bus is best for your specific hotel from Porta Nuova!

The Arena is among the best-preserved ancient amphitheaters you can find in Italy--and is believed to be even older than Rome's Colosseum, at an estimated 1,995 years old. Today, it is the world's largest opera theater, with seating for 14,000 people. You will find this in Piazza Bra--not far from Palazzo Della Gran Guardia (where the shuttles will pick-up/drop-off all wedding guests who need a ride to the venue on Saturday)

Arena di Verona

Not far from the Arena, you can find Castelvecchio. With a name that translates to "Old Castle," this medieval structure was the most important military construction of the Scaliger dynasty, which ruled the city in the 1300's. There is a beautiful bridge you can stroll across, as well as a museum.

Castelvecchio Museum

Via Mazzini connects the grand Bra Square (where the Arena is) to the historic Market Square. It is the most popular shopping street, where you can browse boutique stores, or enjoy some people-watching with a coffee or cocktail. This street was named after one of the nation’s most influential figures, Giuseppe Mazzini, a key 19th-century political activist who supported freedom of speech, religion, the press and thought. His ideas helped shape the unification of Italy in the 1850's and beyond. His Party, the "Action Party" Party founded the first mutual aid societies, workers' associations, public schools and cooperatives in Italy.

Shopping on Via Mazzini

If you turn right at the end of Via Mazzini (at the opposite end from the Arena) you'll find a place inspired by Shakespeare's timeless story of Romeo &amp; Juliet--Juliet's balcony, and a small museum inside the home. A bronze statue of Juliet&nbsp;adorns the courtyard, with visitors lining up to rub her right breast for good luck. This is a replica of the original statue - now displayed indoors.Another romantic tradition here involves putting your love into print&nbsp;and leaving a written message on the Love Wall in the courtyard under the&nbsp;fairytale balcony.

If you instead turn left at the end of Via Mazzini (at the opposite end from the Arena) you will find this historic square, home to a bustling market known for its vibrant atmosphere, with stalls selling souvenirs, clothing, and fresh produce

Piazza delle Erbe

From the market, if you walk northeast, you will reach the Adige river. Cross the bridge at Pointe Pietra, and you will find a cable car (or stairs, if you still haven't gotten all your steps in) which will take you up to Castel San Pietro for a panoramic view of downtown Verona
